Today is World Entrepreneur Day and we want to take a moment to recognise our CEO, Terry Hughes.

From humble beginnings in 2005 with just two employees, including Terry himself, the business operated under the name RMS Global LLP. Through dedication, resilience and vision, Terry has grown the business year on year. Over time, RMS expanded significantly, relocating from Mallusk to Clarendon Docks and marking a milestone with the opening of their first cash centre in Belfast in 2009.

The business evolved through several name changes reflecting its continued growth from RMS Global LLP to RMS Cash Solutions, RMS Cash Services and today is proudly known as Pivotal Sec Plus. Expansion continued through strategic acquisitions, including Jade Security in 2019 and most recently, Security Plus in October 2024. This growth brought operations to 18 locations across the UK and Ireland with over 1,200 employees.

One of Terry’s defining moments came in 2020, when he led the company through the challenges of Covid. With 80% of the business coming to a halt almost overnight as cash usage plummeted, Terry not only safeguarded operations but also pushed forward by opening additional branches demonstrating resilience and true entrepreneurial spirit in the face of adversity.

In 2024, Terry brought his vision to a new venture, opening Mail Boxes Etc. in Belfast, followed by a second location in Dublin. In 2025, Terry secured the master licence for Mail Boxes Etc. across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, overseeing a growing portfolio of locations with ambitious plans for further expansion this year and beyond.

Terry’s achievements have also been recognised externally as he has been shortlisted in the Established Category of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2025, a testament to his leadership, innovation and impact.
